DON’T GET LOST.

For my second project during my second year at AUB, the requirement entailed the creation of a photo book. I chose to delve into the realm of fairy tales, examining their narrative structure and visual representation within traditional literature, and subsequently translating these elements into a photograph.

The final book, titled ‘Don’t Get Lost,‘ draws inspiration from my personal upbringing and the tales told to me for safety. Raised in a secluded, densely wooded environment often described as the “middle of absolute nowhere”, I remembered the importance to remain on designated paths and avoid getting lost. Drawing upon aspects from the classic tale of ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’ I crafted characters embodying this such as ‘the girl’ and ‘the beast,’ thereby constructing a narrative reflective of my own experiences.

Throughout the book I used the method of image transfers to create a more illustrative look, as though they’re drawings. The images appear faint and without much detail on stained thick paper, all of this comes together to create an authentic feeling fairy tale book.
